To enable IMAP on LionMail/Gmail for connecting to an external email program such as ThunderBird, Outlook, or Apple Mail, there are three steps to follow:
- Enable IMAP.
- Log into LionMail at http://lionmail.columbia.edu
- Click the gear icon in the top right hand corner and click “Settings”
C. Click the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab
D. Select the “Enable IMAP” radio button under IMAP access
E. Save your changes with the button at the bottom of the page
Step 2 is to allow less secure apps to connect to your email
A. Click your image/icon/initial in the top right hand corner, and click “My Account”
B. Under “Sign-in & security”, click “Connected apps & sites”
C. Toggle the “Allow less secure apps” switch to ON
Last step is to get your LionMail Device Password
- Login to the Device Password settings page
- Click “Create”
- Copy & save the automatically generated device password that appears on the next page (8-10 random characters.)
