Internet Explorer versions 9 and above
Backing up favorites.
- Click the Favorites icon in the upper right corner.
- Click the down arrow next to Add to favorites (or press Alt+Z on your keyboard as a shortcut).
- Select Import and export in the pop-up menu.
- In the Import/Export Settings window, select Export to a file and click Next.
- Check the box for Favorites and click Next.
- Select the folder of favorites you want to export and click Next.
- Click the Browse button to select where to save the favorites file on your computer and click OK.
- Click the Export button to backup the favorites, then click Finish.
Internet Explorer versions 9 and above restoring favorites with a backup file.
- Click the Favorites icon in the upper right corner.

- In the Import/Export Settings window, select Import from a file and click Next.
- Check the box for Favorites and click Next.
- Click the Browse button to find and select the backup favorites file on your computer and click OK.
- Select a favorites folder to import the backup favorites into.
- Click the Import button to restore the favorites, then click Finish.
Google Chrome
Backup and restore bookmarks with Bookmark Manager
To backup (export) Chrome bookmarks, follow these steps:
- Click the Chrome Settings button in the upper right corner to open the Chrome menu.
- In the menu, select Bookmarks, then Bookmark Manager.
- On the Bookmark Manager tab, click the gear icon towards the upper right
- Select Export bookmarks in the pop-up menu and save the exported bookmarks file to your computer.
To restore (import) bookmarks in Chrome, follow these steps:
- Click the Chrome Settings button in the upper right corner to open the Chrome menu.
- In the menu, select Bookmarks, then Bookmark Manager.
- On the Bookmark Manager tab, click the gear icon towards the upper right
- Select Import bookmarks in the pop-up menu, locate the file containing the Chrome bookmarks and click OK to import the bookmarks.
Mozilla Firefox
Recent versions of Firefox backup
- Open Mozilla Firefox.
- Click the Bookmarks icon and then Show All Bookmarks.
- In the Library window, click Import and Backup
- Click Export Bookmarks to HTML or click Backup. We recommend exporting to HTML since all browsers support the ability to read these files.
- Select where you want to save the exported bookmarks file to, enter the name of the file (if you want to name it something other than the default file name) and then click the Save button.
Recovering bookmarks in recent versions of Firefox
- Open Mozilla Firefox.
- Click the Bookmarks icon and then Show All Bookmarks.
- In the Library window, click Import and Backup
- If the file is a JSON file, click Restore and Choose File. If the file is a .HTM/.HTML file or other browser file click Import Bookmarks from HTML and follow the import wizard.
